COMPASSION
Overview: Cole's ability as a spirit of Compassion is to sense the pain in people and what it would take to ease that pain, even if it's something he himself can't do. He exists to help quell the suffering of the world. NOTE: Cole's not human, sometimes he kinda fumbles and makes things worse because he doesn't say things right.
Specifics: It comes to Cole not as a simple "Wow he's bothered by these crimes he committed in his past that he's been struggling to atone for, he needs to know he's done enough to make it right." Instead he seems to feel the pain as they felt it, albeit from a removed position, and most of his party banters are him repeating another characters' thought process they might have had years ago when the hurt happened, then asking them about it. He can also sense things that would ease that pain to a certain extent, whether it be absolution, company, or something that will remind them of one who makes them happy.
So what does this mean for you: Due to
FORGET
Overview: He's not 'real', so Cole can make people forget that he exists after he helps them. It doesn't matter that they don't remember him, what matters is he helped. And this way they don't have to question or be frightened by why a strange boy would know exactly what they needed to hear.
Specifics: Cole has the ability to inflict laser-guided amnesia on a person related specifically to himself, wiping himself from their memories. He usually only does a surface wipedown. They might remember there was a strange boy, but they wouldn't recognize Cole as that boy. He can completely scrub himself from someone's memory if he tries hard enough (if the Inquisitor manages to get enough disapproval, Cole will wipe himself from their memories and his codex will read "The Inquisition is not aware of anyone by that name." with no one ever mentioning him again.)
So what does this mean for you: Often it's only used to erase about a minute or two of memory - just long enough for Cole to comfort someone then leave. This is also about the only time he uses it, so it's more or less a moot point if he can't get a read on your character. He also sometimes uses it if he really screws up on what he says to try and make someone feel better, effectively abusing it as a restart for the conversation to try again. There's no ill-effects from the memory wipe. Technically speaking it's actually the natural result of dealing with a spirit, Cole's just got better control over it. Feel free to say that this has failed, or let it work for a short period of time only to have the memories return later. I'll leave it up to everyone to decide for themselves if it works if Cole tries for it, this is just the "under ideal conditions" example. ETA: As of a conversation with Dorian, Cole now does not intentionally mind-wipe as he was told it was "Rude to do without permission". It's entirely possible that his powers will work on their own even if he doesn't intentionally activate them, however. Again, I'll be leaving that up to all of you for what you think would be interesting and/or funny. 8D
INVISIBILITY
Overview: Cole can turn invisible, or otherwise seen as unimportant and overlooked.
Specifics: When completely shrouded, Cole pass through crowds unnoticed. He can slip a ring of keys out of a guard's pocket if he's quiet about it in an otherwise empty hallway aside from the two of them. People will walk around him without realizing what they're doing. Usually he's just under a vague shroud of 'this person is not worth really noticing, scrawny scarecrow-hatted boys are totally normal around these parts' that only works as long as he doesn't talk to people. He can, if he pushes himself, shroud another person as well. This is extremely draining for him, and if the other person moves or speaks at all it fails, but technically it is possible.
So what does this mean for you: This is about his only power that works consistently, but needless to say it's not going to be active when he's interacting with people unless stated otherwise. Because that would be darn silly. People who are spirits(or demons) themselves/possessed by spirits/or are cats seem to be able to see past this even when he's trying.
POSSESSION
Overview: The thing that makes spirits and demons so feared. They can take possession of a person.
Specifics: Possession can be a complete and total control of a person, using that body as if it was their own. Alternately, he can slip into their minds without actively taking control. Admittedly this 'can' is a bit hopeful.
So what does this mean for you: This is mainly on here in case anyone wants to do this for plot-related reasons. Cole is not good at these things (better at observing rather than controlling) and any amount of willpower, even for those not magically inclined, will bounce him back. In the game Inquisition he only uses these powers once, when the Inquisitor already has a demon trying to possess them and Cole hops in their mind as well to help the Inquisitor evict said demon. He doesn't like to nor want to use this and won't unless (like with the Inquisitor) it is absolutely required for helping a person.
Compassion and Forget are his two main abilities I'd like permission/information regarding. Invisibility is mainly just to explain, and Possession is just there to say what it does in case you want to use it for a plot. Unless specifically requested it will not be used.

Chell
Compassion: Chell's past is short before coming on the ship and she has issues with being seen as an object or just a test subject as well as the complete lack of memory she has before waking up in Aperture at the start of Portal 1. She also has a horrible suspicion that she signed up for testing. She doesn't want to ever admit that she ever took anything GLaDOS or Wheatley said to heart.
She views her mind as her only truly safe spot because it's all she had of her own for a long time. She always has 2-3 exit routes out of any room she's in and she's only started to speak for the first time out loud recently. She doesn't understand people that well. She thinks scientists are evil and she's used to ignoring A.I that insult her.
Forget: I'd like to let her remember most things even if only a little later. She'll be angry if she realizes she's been made to forget something because of her memory loss.
Death
Compassion: Death being Death, Cole is probably unable to get a good reading at any time. But if he tried really hard he might get the sense of eternity. The colour of eternity is a vast blackness with blue pricks of light. It feels cold and there is a sense of loneliness if you linger too long.
Forget: Isn't going to work on him
Ai Enma
Compassion: Ai tries to repress her emotions at all times but she's slowly letting them out while on the ship. She's been betrayed many times in the past. Has seen the absolute worst of humanity for 400+ years.
She's always going to have low laying sorrow and there is seething anger and rage buried under the layers of apathy she covers the rest of her emotions with. Not as strong as the ones from the echos of her past where she let it consume her. She thinks all people are going to prove themselves terrible and she is blunt with the truth of her job so that she can scare people away before she ever has to worry about becoming attached to them. She has a small family like group of various spirits and creatures from Japanese legends at home that assist her in her duties, that are the only reason she wants to go back at all.
Forget: Same as Chell's pretty much, depends on the situation
and....if you need anything else or something just tell me c: I also have their apps on their journals if you ever need to get something about their past/thoughts

+1 Newt
Forgetting: Fine but she'd be confused about it and probably angry because her memories.
+1 Warden
Forgetting: She'd me more understanding because spirits are strange but she'd rather not forget.
tl;dr I can ramble about my Warden forever so if you need something you can check out my app or just poke me
HOPE THIS RIDICULOUS WALL OF TEXT IS WHAT YOU'RE LOOKING FOR......
And makes me wanna finish DA2 so I can get on Inquisition fffff......For Levi here:
Compassion: Levi is six thousand pounds of issues shoved in a 143lb bag. His upbringing was rough (but we don't have many details except for the fact that he was raised by and is very likely related to a serial killer...) but his major problem is probably guilt over the deaths of his friends Isabel and Farlan- he made a bad call and left them alone when he shouldn't have, and they died because of it. He also had a special operations squad under his command and they died too because he can't have nice things. [allmyfriendsaredead.png] (That wasn't so much his fault but he's still sad about it anyway.)
It's also implied that he's been directly involved in torture-as-interrogation beyond the two scenes that happen in canon, but I don't think he ever actually enjoyed it, so there's probably some lingering issues related to that, too.
Aaaand the more recent issue is a giant snk spoiler so I'm not gonna drop it unless it becomes a thing (or you don't mind.)
...His reaction probably won't be all that friendly if any of those things are brought up by a stranger, but beyond that he'll likely deny those feelings at all. As far as the torture business goes, he'll probably repeat that he's fine with doing what needs to be done, but it will probably come off as transparent.
THAT SAID it's likely he won't be actively thinking about these things unless a situation comes up in-game to remind him of them- for the most part they're old hurts that only really ache when it rains. He's your typical Emotionally Constipated stoic asshole-who-isn't, so he keeps this sort of thing to himself about 99% of the time.
Forgetting: He'd be preeeetty pissed off if he ever found out he'd been made to forget something against his will- he's a game import and the last situation he was in had enough mind control and brainwashing for one lifetime. There are also problems with memory erasure in his home world, and especially because of those he'd be insanely mistrustful of someone using that sort of power on him, even if it's supposedly for his own good. He'd probably confront Cole in the event that the memories return, and probably not very nicely. I'm still down for it, though!
TL;DR!!!!!!!!!!I'm sorry for the infodump /o\ I'm open to Cole using whatever he wants on Levi, should the opportunity present itself. I'll give better deets than lame wiki links if that's the case! Such a cool power......
Wall o'text so nice it'll have it's own cult soon too
Cole will still probably try to pick at his knot of troubled emotions in an attempt to make it better. Levi will probably have to tell him to stop often if Cole gets started...
Anyway, THANK YOU for taking the time to fill this out, I can't wait for them to interact!
text wall... cult D8
AND YES GOOD TRY IT he could use some emotional ex-lax tbqh... Sounds like fun!!
/lights candles to it
He sometimes admittedly makes it worse. A lot worse. BUT HE TRIES, HE'S VERY TRYING. And if he screws up too bad that's what making people forget is for!
I do genuinely hope that comes back to bite him he will be so confused.no subject
FENRIS
Compassion: You know the canon, obviously! Fenris is a ball of rage and hurt and everything is fair game.
Forget: HE'D BE SO MAD IF HE EVER KNEW but that doesn't mean you can't.
REMUS
Compassion: I think you also know this canon! I took Remus from early 1982, because I'm mean, so James and Lily and (apparently) Peter dying, Sirius going to prison, etc., are all pretty fresh memories. On a day to day basis he's a lot better now, since Lily and Sirius are around! But James isn't, and he also feels really awful sometimes about the fact that he's letting Sirius rot in prison back home. Plus there's all the werewolf stuff, still being afraid people might hate him when they find out even though no one on the ship ever does, etc. As of late he also feels like shit about the boggart incident.
Forget: Would work! Remus would not be particularly upset about it if he ever found out.
SIMON
Compassion: IN THE FLESH SPOILERS AHOY. Simon is kind of hostile to humans and tangled up in some bad shit at home, but, predictably, it's because he wants hugs. He was one of the undead that was experimented on to develop the drugs that let ITF zombies regain higher brain function, even though he revoked consent for them to cut him open and poke around inside after he regained his ability to speak, so he's afraid of/angry about scientists and doctors. He's also an anti-living extremist in general, becaaaause he killed his own mother before he was treated and his father couldn't forgive him for it. The people who DID offer him forgiveness (and hugs) were a pro-undead religious/terrorist organization. So he's bought all of that hook line and sinker because he needs the absolution, and now he's mad at normal humans all the time.
Forget: He would be less mad than Fenris but more mad than Remus.
MARCUS
Compassion: Marcus is kind of a horrible person and doesn't get upset about much. The things that DO hurt him are his parents' disapproval and sometimes his own self-awareness that he's not a good person. For example, he gave up custody of his daughter because he figured she was better off. But he upset enough about it to ever change, so.
Forget: He has some sensitivity to magic that might at least clue him in to it. But maybe not. In any case, he would be annoyed, but who cares about his feelings? NOT ME.
Another WALL O' TEXT for you; sorry for my stupid, complicated elf
godemode and cheaterpretty powerful person herself, in ways that may mess up Cole, idk, but THIS CR COULD BE SO COOL. Galadriel tends to block most of her thoughts and memories (because certain Dark Lords were constantly trying to get into them at home. Doesn't trust people.), but Cole... seems to work a little differently from what she's used to, from what I've seen, so I wouldn't mind him getting some glimpses. He's free to notice that she's purposefully making things difficult too, if you think that could be a thing.BUT I don't know how much you know about Galadriel's long and sordid backstory, so I'll just give you that link and this one.
BASICS, THOUGH: In the first Kinslaying, she ended up defending her mother's kin against her uncle and his forces. At the time, this would have been a pretty rage and grief fueled event, lots of pain, lots of intense emotion. Now, she can't say she would have done anything differently, but regrets that she was backed into a corner like that- spilling elven blood is a *huge* no-no and spilling it on sacred ground is doubly so. The fact that she was likely *literally* related to both sides just makes things worse.
After that... well, let me leave you this quote: "Her pride was unwilling to return, a defeated suppliant for pardon; but now she burned with desire to follow Fëanor with her anger to whatever lands he might come, and to thwart him in all ways that she could."
YEAH. And she ended up walking across the equivalent of the North Pole in order to follow him. And a lot of elves died in the process- so again, anger, rage, grief, but now we are getting the guilt mixing in and that is a big theme from here on out. So she and her group are also banished from their homeland in this mess.
ANYWAY, lots of stuff happens, Galadriel makes a home in Doriath, gets married, is happy, yadda, yadda. But then shit happens, Doriath falls- at the hands of her cousins. So we get rage, betrayal, fear, worry about the perception of her loyalties, etc.
Long story short, there's another realm that she's involved with that falls, another close friend/relative tortured and killed- and he could have given up info on her in an attempt to save himself. He didn't. This is important. AND THEN WE FINALLY GET TO LORIEN.
And her daughter, who is married to Elrond, is captured by orcs on the way to Lorien and tortured. She's eventually rescued and healed in body, but her spirit is seriously wounded and the only solution they can find is for her to sail to the Undying Lands... which happens to be Galadriel's homeland. From which she was exiled. There's a lot of pain still here and this is probably some of the most... raw, for lack of a better word. She feels guilt that she didn't foresee the attack, that she couldn't do enough to help her daughter. A tremendous sense of loss and grief, of course.
Those, and the fact that she's basically the only member of her family of origin left alive in Middle Earth, are the biggies. She's also learning to deal with the fact that Arwen is going to chose a mortal life (:( but she know that she would be miserable otherwise and Galadriel actually likes Aragorn).
So yes. Forgive me for the length and rambliness of this, but LORD it was kind of hard to think of where to start. Feel free to ping for history or power clarification too.

Compassion: SILENT HILL: DOWNPOUR SPOILERS HOOOYYY but Murphy like many survival/horror protagonists suffers a great deal of survivor's guilt that he pretty regularly deals with every day. Of course he's found better ways of coping with it than stealing a police car to get himself locked away in prison in order to go on a roaring rampage of revenge on one of the inmates, but every now and then he's reminded of his son or beating that one pedophile who murdered his son to death or his wife's father who he unintentionally got horrible maimed and killed so he could get access to his son's murderer and oh boy.
It's also implied that he was involved in criminal activity after his years spent in an orphanage, but I imagine it was more or less petty theft and little things he never got caught/arrested for. He is generally a decent guy, but a great big ball of sadness and regret and misses his old life despite the happiness he's found with his new one he's made for himself in-game, but there's nothing quite like a father's grief and a dude who's always fretting over destroying everything good he'll ever have.
Forget: Murphy is just a normal dude, and has no way of really repelling against any sort of magical memory-erasure. While I'd like for him to retain his memories from a thread, I wouldn't be entirely opposed to it, either. He's actually one of the few Silent Hill protags who doesn't have a history of convenient plot-related memory issues to get in a tizzy over it.
Rey (
Compassion: Rey is a terrible robot clone thing who's done some terrible shit and is doing her damnedest to try and be good, which is a lot easier said than done. She has currently been taken from the middle of her redemption arc where she is not only consciously aware of being a mass murderer responsible for creating many orphans and widows and widowers and so much more, but she still struggles to process the emotional and psychological impact it's had on her.
While she is someone who could use help and comfort, she would never ask for it with the idea in her head set that she isn't worthy of anyone's compassion or forgiveness, even though it is something she desperately craves. Due to her history of isolation and social detachment, she is also struggling to find a connection with the people around her, something which is also a lot easier said than done.
There's a lot more, but those are some major things to work with.
Forget: She has photographic memory so I'm not entirely sure how a memory wipe would work. But seeing that it's possible for her to forget shit thanks to the in-game mechanics and she doesn't have any magical or psychic influence, I would say it's possible but her memories might have a way of wigging out and/or resurfacing. I don't know. Might be fun to mess around with sometime!
I could definitely go into more details with Rey and Murphy both, but that would be too many. Basically, I'm open for anything. Cole seems like a really interesting character and I'd totally like to hit up a thread sometime!

Compassion: In Sophie's world, there's one soul per birth, and her twin got theirs, so Sophie is soulless. She's also a skinchanger, capable of taking literally any form she can imagine. Throughout her young childhood she was bullied by her twin, and from her 10th birthday to about the age of 15 she was chased every night by the Devil. Sometimes she got away, sometimes she didn't. When she finally decided to face the Devil down, no one would go help her because it's the Devil. She ultimately 'won' the fight, except in this case winning meant taking some of the Devil's power and some other power into herself. This almost killed her, but in the end it didn't. Fast forward 10 years and while they're all coming home to meet for her father's death, she's thrown into a furnace, attacked by the kind of magic used to kill phoenixes, and stabbed through the middle with a spear that nullifies magic. Then her father blames her for something she didn't do that will lead to his inevitable death. Girl has some issues. Underneath her normal appearance, she's terribly scarred, currently injured, and nearly starving.
Forget: Go for it, but it probably won't stick, and he'd definitely get a (kind of humorous) lecture on how it's very rude to do things like that and also be questioned as to why he'd want to be forgotten.
Invisibility: While born a human, Sophie is pretty much a magical creature now. Whether you want her to be able to see Cole or not is up to you, though!
Possession: Sophie doesn't have a soul, but she has an extreme excess of willpower and the desire to remain herself, so if he tried it might be like hitting a brick wall.

Compassion
There's plenty of potential here, so let's just start with a big one: When Daryl's fellow survivors go missing and/or die, which sometimes they do because they all live in rotting cannibal hell, if he feels even a little responsibility for those people's well-being he will absolutely blame himself for letting it happen. These are the big ones to date:
- Sophia, 12; lost in the woods, Daryl searched for her for days; she was later found turned and had to be put down by another survivor while her devastated mother looked on
- Merle, mid/late 50s; Daryl's belligerent, violent, racist, generally shitty, yet strangely charismatic redneck brother; he was turned, Daryl had to take him out; still deeply missed despite being a POS in life
- Beth, 18/19; a determined optimist, unfailingly compassionate, Daryl's moonshine buddy; shot in the head by a survivor from another group, who Daryl then killed; her death struck him especially hard
Other issues include abysmal self-worth, social isolation, emotional regulation, aaand more. Basically, Daryl has so much baggage, it should have its own billing on the show. If you feel like it, have a look at yonder app for more miserable details.
Forget, etc
Daryl is a regular squishy human and therefore susceptible to all these spirity things. Upon learning his mind was messed with, he'd likely be enraged... which I don't mind if you don't!
If you have any questions or whatnot, please don't hesitate to ask. :>

And if you do decide to watch the thing, just... hang on through season two. It's, uhhh, not great. A lot of hanging on is necessary. But it gets way better after that.

I'll keep that in mind! I THINK I tried watching some of Season 1 back when it first came out on DVD and wasn't terribly interested, but now that more is out I can give it another shot.

compassion;
thomas carries around a lot of guilt over the other gladers, and feels responsible for their situation ( he also is responsible for their situation, so. ) anything that hurts them or endangers there life is something thomas feels personally responsible for causing and obligated to rectify.
he's also had the ship mucking about in his head, and he's had people from his homeworld muck around in his head. his ship-sponsored headtrip makes him think his legs are in varying levels of pain every time he walks.
so much ptsd from glader/ship horrors.
basically, lots of guilt, lots of trauma, martyr complex like whoa.
everything else;
thomas has zero defenses and is only a human boy, so he's definitely a candidate for forget, possession et all. should be noted that he's had a lot of people crawling through his head, so he'd be very upset if he found out there was another party taking a crack at him.
